NEW FREE-FLOW TOLL SYSTEM
The iTOLL research project is funded by the Basque Government’s Etorgai programme. The estimated duration of the project is 27 months, between October 2008 and December 2010. iTOLL will study, design and introduce a new electronic payment road transport toll system with no need for vehicles to moderate their speed.
OBJECTIVES OF THE iTOLL PROJECT
• Design and implement at free flow toll system, capable of being integrated with future systems based on GNSS technology.
• Develop new algorithms for detecting and classifying vehicles.
• Develop hybrid receivers (GPS/Galileo/EGNOS).
• Design an electronic toll management system.
• Manage geographical reference data.
